PRESERVING FOREST - Anne Arundel County still retains some nearly unspoiled areas - including about 6,000 acres of undeveloped forest at the headwaters of the South River. Preserving this area - the South River Greenway project - is a priority of county and state government. Last week the boards of the Scenic River Land Trust and the Maryland Environmental Trust approved conservation easements they will hold on more than 600 acres along Bacon Ridge Branch, a South River tributary.
