Our Say: To fight gangs, schools and police must be able to talkPublished 10/20/09
We are not surprised - but still thankful - that the legislature will examine new laws to tighten control of gang activity in local schools. Gangs have been operating in the community for several years, but few people thought their activity was equal to what metropolitan areas, such as Los Angeles, were experiencing. With little violence to report, was the activity confined to vandalism by some glorified hoodlums - or was it the seeds of something bigger?
