On Monday, council Chairwoman Cathy Vitale and Councilman Daryl Jones introduced a bill, first reported on by Erin Cox on Saturday, that would limit casinos to property south of Route 32. That just happens to exclude Arundel Mills, the only site for which there is a bid approved by the state slots commission.
A second bill, introduced by Councilman Ron Dillon, would...

Opinion piece with no name? - 2009-10-21 13:54:48
I'm not sure what to do with an opinion piece that has no name associated with it. Are we to assume that this is the opinion of the entire paper / website, or just one individual who typed it? Either way, its just plain wrong. The county council was put in the tough position by the state, and they are doing their best to work through it. They are honestly doing their jobs, and ensuring due diligence on a zoning issue. Everything else that surrounds this issue is just noise, the issue the council has to decide is one of zoning. The local residents strongly oppose the proposed zoning, so the council is trying to work the problem to find an agreeable solution. The media, business owners, and politicians who are applying pressure that the ones that should feel shame, not the County Council.

Unbelievable - 2009-10-21 12:03:30
There is overwhelming evidence that the
Cordish Co. made inacurate residential impact claims to the State Video Lottey Commission, and the Capital is not only supresing this news, but blindly supporting the bid. 63 'residential units' is quite a bit less than 2,100+.
And you are also ignoring the law, which granted local zoning control.
