TEACHING AWARD - Congratulations to Kim Jakovics, who recently won a $25,000 Milken Educator Award. She was one of only 53 teachers in the nation to receive the honor this year. Six years ago, Jakovics filled a teaching vacancy on an emergency basis at Annapolis High School. Her skill and positive attitude helped many students. As a result of her work - along with that, of course, of many other teachers - Annapolis High's performance improved, helping it to get off the state watch list of troubled schools.
