DRUNKEN DRIVING - To illustrate our argument that drunken driving laws are more focused on the first-time offender than the chronic drunk, we point to a recent case involving a Maryland lobbyist. David Jacobs of Mitchellville was arrested for drunken driving on April 29 after he caused an accident. It was his seventh drunken driving conviction since 1990. Prince George's Judge Hassan Ali El-Amin ordered Jacobs released from jail after he served 36 days and sent him to an in-house alcohol treatment program for 28 days. Prosecutors had asked for a 10-month jail sentence. So, when will judges take drunken driving...
