Among the four Democrats, we support the two incumbents - House Speaker Michael E. Busch and Del. Virginia Clagett - and political newcomer Judd Legum. The fourth candidate is Shirley May Little.
As speaker, Busch has done more than any other delegate to help the county in general and his district in particular. Clagett has a strong...

Thank goodness someone is finally noticing how the AA county part of District 21 was let down by most of the delegation regarding the slots referendum. It wasn't for lack of input from Laurel constituents that most of them did the bidding of Sen. Mike Miller and the Governor, with our welfare as a community being a lower priority. I am supporting Devin Tucker also.

Misguided reason for serving in the - 2010-09-03 19:01:32
While I do not agree with some of your endorsements, you have every right to pick who you believe should be elected. I am very concerned, however, with the rationale why you picked the candidates. My understanding from Government class is that you were to represent your district in matters of the state not "bring home the bacon." This is what is fundamentally wrong with politics today. People are elected to the county council to build a better county, elected to the state legislature to build a better state, and elected to Congress to build a better country. It is not to bring home money to your elected district. I really believe this paper should be helping the residents of this county understand what it means to serve the people and not promote the very behavior that has gotten this country in the mess it is in. If you believe your endorsed candidates did what was best for all of Maryland, then I respect your decision. Otherwise, I really believe that your measuring stick falls extremely short of the original intent of elected office.
