Midshipman cleared of rape chargesPublished 06/03/08
All charges have been dropped against a Naval Academy midshipman who was accused of raping a fellow midshipman, academy officials announced this morning.
Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Jeffrey L. Fowler decided not to bring the charges against Midshipman 1st Class Mark A. Calvanico to a court-martial. The decision follows the recommendations of an investigating officer’s report that said the rape case was weak.
