WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) — A tornado was spotted three miles west of Tracys Landing according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado was moving to the east at 62 miles per hour. A tornado warning is in effect for Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties until 4 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for portions of the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
The watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
In addition to tornadoes, the weather service says hail up to 2 inches in diameter, wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and dangerous lighting are also possible.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.
