Agreement reached on Delaware wind power projectPublished 06/24/08
NEWARK, Del. — Delmarva Power has reached a 25-year agreement to buy up to 200 megawatts of power from an offshore wind farm that would be operated by Bluewater Wind.
Under the terms of the agreement announced at a news conference in Newark, Bluewater Wind could begin delivering energy to Delaware customers within four years.
Officials said the agreement marks the first step in what may become a regional approach to alternative energy. The wind farm is likely to begin with about 60 turbines and could eventually supply electricity to Maryland and other neighboring states. "We're hoping that other states,...
