NEWARK, Del. — Delmarva Power has reached a 25-year agreement to buy up to 200 megawatts of power from an offshore wind farm that would be operated by Bluewater Wind.
Under the terms of the agreement announced at a news conference in Newark, Bluewater Wind could begin delivering energy to Delaware customers within four years.
Officials said the agreement marks the first step in what may become a regional approach to alternative energy. The wind farm is likely to begin with about 60 turbines and could eventually supply electricity to Maryland and other neighboring states.
