The way the weather has been of late, not many outdoorsmen have been thinking of going fishing though there have been scattered reports of catch-and-release rockfishing around turbine warmed waters of power plants - including a scattering of fish at Calvert Cliffs.
A few early perch have turned up in tributaries of the bay, and of course the ice fishing continues at Deep Creek Lake where we're told the thick stuff covering that reservoir is more than a foot thick - and the catching is fairly good. Mike Yommer of Grantsville took a northern pike of 7 pounds 5 ounces, also a walleye of 20 inches. Among other catches were a 10-inch...
