Those on the chase for flounder not infrequently daydream of catching what in flattie slang is referred to as a "doormat" - a big fluke of perhaps 6 or 7 pounds. Michael Behe has caught more than a few flatties of that size, but at Wachapreague, Va., he caught one that most fishermen would call, not a doormat, but a rug.
You might say this particular day had its ups and downs, though who can complain when an 11-pound, 7-ounce flounder, ends up in the boat? But, one that huge stuffed with more than a couple thousand greenbacks certainly would make for quite a platter.
And, therein lies a lesson on reading the fine...
