If you've just got to go fishing, put on some warm clothes and boots, then head west to Garrett County where Deep Creek Lake's waters were open a few weeks ago, but are now covered with a foot of ice and at least another foot of snow. But, the perch, pickerel and maybe even a northern pike should be hungry. Retired bait shop keeper Johnny Marple who's packing up to spend a month in Florida reports quite a few fishermen are angling through the ice - and the more there are the quicker they will discover locations and patterns for even better catching.
