Out in the mountains of Western Maryland there's a popular acronym among hunters and others concerning a problem we don't have in this area - black bears.
It's SSS, a shortie for shoot, shovel and shut up.
I was reminded of this the other day when chatting by Chuck Microbe, proprietor of Little Sandy's restaurant north of Oakland and popular among outdoorsmen. Out there, the current buzz focuses on a terrifying bear attack for a family - and to make things worse the sow was rabid.
