Ice in this area is not thick enough to go fishing, but in many places it's too thick a skim for open water casting - and it's too cold for many fishermen to go anyhow.
Out at Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, fishermen are waiting it out. Johnny Marple, long retired from Johnny's Bait House, reports the lake is covered with ice, but it's still too thin to hold a fisherman.
