ZOOMA WOMEN'S SERIES: The inaugural ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K will be held on June 1. The route starts at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis and finishes on the waterfront at Jonas Green Park in Anne Arundel County. Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis are co-sponsors of the event. Shuttle busses will transport spectators from the parking lots at the Stadium to Jonas Green Park, where they can cheer runners through the finish line and from several places along the race route. MOORE MEMORIAL: The Lt. Col. Ben Moore Memorial Half Marathon and 10K will be held Aug. 10 at 7:30 a.m. with the start and finish at the Truman Parkway Park N Ride. The Route will transit much of the same route that Moore led "Moore' Marines" on. The run will also include the communities of Heritage Harbor, North River Forest, and the Bay Area Community Church. For registration and details visit: www.runannapolis.com. The entry fees are: $30-Half Marathon, $35-10k; $35 for both on race day. Proceeds from the race will go to the Anne Arundel County Auxiliary Police, the Wounded Warrior Project and Rude Ranch Animal Rescue.
DISTANCE TRAINING: RunAnnapolis Ten Mile and Half Marathon Training Program will begin June 14, 7 a.m., at the Truman Parkway Park N Ride. Runners will receive individual attention from certified coaches. This training program is for runners of all abilities and emphasizes several training techniques such as interval, tempo run, fartlek and hill training. There will be instructional discussions on proper stretching, chiropractic for runners, benefits of massage, nutrition for runners, CPR/First Aid, and Performance Enhancement Imagery. Our groups will meet and run together twice a week. The groups will meet on Saturday's at 7 a.m. at the Truman Parkway Park N Ride and on Wednesday's at 6 p.m. at the Annapolis High School track. Registration and additional details are available at: www.runannapolis.com under programs or by contacting Ron Bowman at lynnron1@comcast.net or 410-573-1929 (before 9 p.m.) BALTIMORE 10 MILER: Corrigan Sports Enterprises and the University of Maryland Heart Center will host the inaugural Baltimore 10 Miler on June 21 at 7:30 a.m. inside Druid Hill Park near the Maryland Zoo. The course will run along two of Baltimore's lake-side parks. At the start, runners will pass the lake in Druid Hill Park to 33rd Street where they head east until reaching Lake Montebello. After a lap around the lake, participants will head west on 33rd street before returning to Druid Hill Park to complete the course. The field will be limited to 2,000 participants who are able to finish the course in under 2 hours and 20 minutes and registration will only take place online. All finishers will receive a fleece. NATION'S TRIATHLON: The third annual Nation's Triathlon will take place Sept. 14 in the nation's Capital and will feature a new course that winds through Washington's monumental corridor.
