Kevin Kubit has a theory about the slackening of striper catches in the upper bay - and the more I think of it, he just might have a point. Kevin sells fishing tackle at Anglers Sports Center and fishes when not selling. He also is among the first to admit the catching of upper bay rockfish is sliding downward a bit. To his way of thinking, those of us who try to lure a rockfish to the hook have an awful lot of competition. Our baits are just a few amidst hoards of natural baits now available in the Chesapeake; menhaden in particular.
