Yes, I realize the hunting season is here – doves, waterfowl and deer – and here I go rambling on about fishing. No doubt many Chesapeake sportsmen have had their attention diverted, to varying degrees, away from work and family so they can get afield.

But if you can, carve out some time to get on the water because for the past month or so, the fishing has been exceptional, especially from the Bay Bridges to below Poplar Island. And it should only improve as we enter the heart of fall.
