When it comes to competition in the natural world, I lean heavily toward the curiously morbid. I’m fascinated by the manner in which living creatures, especially the predators, carve out a living. I’m equally intrigued that prey fights so hard to avoid being eaten, and more often than not succeeds.

Survival of the Fittest? Man versus crocodile, no weapons allowed. Now that’s a reality TV show I just might burn an hour to watch. And I know this isn’t PC to admit but I often find myself not necessarily rooting for the animals to take out humans, but give them a good reminder of who’s the boss. Encroach too...
