Funk is a Laurel native who coached the golf team at his alma mater - the University of Maryland - before becoming a member of the PGA Tour in 1989. Now 53, Funk has 16 professional wins to his credit including eight on the PGA Tour.
Funk, who resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., returned to his home state a few weeks ago. The reason for his visit was to tour Queenstown Harbor's 36-hole facility, which he did with local Golf Course Designer Lindsay Bruce Ervin.
