Outdoors: Flounder surge falls at wrong timePublished 09/20/09
I'm willing to bet if you polled Maryland fishermen a majority wouldn't have a clue the state's flounder season closed last Sunday. And just when the fishing was getting good. I spoke with Capt. Harry Nield of Annapolis who runs a charter boat out of Deal Island on weekends and he said it was another banner year for flounder on Tangier Sound. A report from Buzz's Marina (St. Mary's County) indicated that during the past two weeks the flatfish have come on strong around St. Jerome's Creek.
