Each year, my former college lacrosse teammate, Mike McGuane, travels south from Pennsylvania to shoot doves, ducks and ducks with us. Invariably, he takes down birds with such deadly aim you'd think he was on the amateur sporting clays circuit, and generally shames me with his accuracy. (Come to think of it, it isn't much different from when we played together 20-plus years ago.)
