Usually the guy who arrives 20 minutes late to go fishing is relentlessly chided or, in the case of repeat offenders, left at the dock. Most certainly he doesn't get credit for a hot bite. Quite the opposite. Anglers are universally superstitious without any ammo, but give them some tinder and they're quick to assign blame on anyone and any circumstance, especially if the fishing goes awry.
