Mary Matton loves sewing and crafts, but quilting is her passion. "Quilts are something that lasts, you pass them down from generation to generation," she said. "To me they are heirlooms."

Mary Matton works with the Annapolis Quilt Guild on various charitabnle projects. She also has volunteered for the Smithsonian, giving tours and demonstrations for the American History Museum.
A 15-year member of the Annapolis Quilt Guild and a resident of Davidsonville for 25 years, Mrs. Matton uses quilting as more than a creative outlet; it's also her way of helping others.
"Women have made quilts to raise money since way before the Civil War," she said. "This is just a continuation of charity work."
