Dwyer wants floor debate on marriage measuresPublished 02/08/08
Continuing his quest to get the question of gay marriage out of the House Judiciary Committee, Del. Don Dwyer, R-Glen Burnie, is trying a different tactic this year.
He's trying to get a bill he vehemently opposes through to the floor of the House of Delegates.
Mr. Dwyer is circulating two petitions - one for his own bill that would send a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage to the voters and another for a bill by Del. Ben Barnes, D-College Park, that would create civil marriages for same-sex couples. His goal is to move the debate from the relative obscurity of the committee to the floor of the House...
