Summer camp gives kids CSI experiencePublished 06/28/09
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Thirty-five youngsters ages 10 to 12 took part in a crime scene investigation exercise recently through the Cumberland Police Department Summer Camp.
Eleven-year-old Morgan Cook was one of team leaders. His team of eight selected him.
"We all decided they wanted me to be sergeant," Morgan said. "The sergeant is the team leader who organizes everybody." The weeklong outreach program with middle schoolers is held in cooperation with the Salvation Army. The State will soon be calling those kids as expert witnesses. That is probably more training than most police 'experts' get.
