Plans for move from Va. base to Ft. Meade on schedule

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The head of the Defense Information Systems Agency says its move from Arlington, Va., to Fort Meade in Maryland is on schedule.

Pollett says surveys show that about 63 percent of DISA's work force will stay with the jobs after the move.

Brown says while some will commute from Virginia, he's hoping rising numbers will move to the state over a two-year period during which the military will pay for families to move.

About 4,300 jobs will be placed at DISA's new facility at Fort Meade between October 2010 and July 2011.

The move is part of the military's base closing and realignment process.
