BALTIMORE - Maryland officials said one more person has died of swine flu, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 13.
The state Department of Health and Mental Hygiene confirmed the death yesterday. The person was an adult from the Baltimore area with pre-existing health conditions.
Gunman kills office worker, self
ROSEDALE - Baltimore County Police said at about 12:30 p.m. yesterday, a man walked into an advertising company near Rosedale and shot a man several times, killing him.
Police spokesman Bill Toohey said the gunman, whom he identified as Dennis McLaughlin, 54, of Parkville, then walked outside Keary Advertising and shot himself in the upper body. He was taken to Bayview Medical Center and pronounced dead about an hour later.
The victim, Wayne Lee Keary, 59, of Woodlawn, died at the scene.
Man sentenced in mortgage fraud
BALTIMORE - An Oxon Hill man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for a mortgage fraud tied to 25 properties in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia worth millions.
Terrence White, 35, also had a restitution order of more than $4 million entered against him at sentencing yesterday.
