Relatives may face new charges after woman's death
SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — Wicomico County prosecutors say members of a Fruitland family charged with abusing an 83-year-old bedridden woman could face additional charges after the elderly woman died.
Officials say the woman died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Tuesday and her body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
Wicomico County assistant state's attorney Liz Ireland says if the death is determined to have resulted from severe neglect, the state may consider more charges.
