US attorney: State Sen. Ulysses Currie indicted

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — State Sen. Ulysses Currie, chairman of a legislative committee that steers $32 billion in state spending, is accused of illegally using his influence to benefit a grocery store chain, the U.S. attorney's office announced Wednesday.

Currie, a 73-year-old Prince George's County Democrat was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud and extortion.

Don't look for affiliation when you look for graft and corruption; doesn't seem to matter. It's a blight on both parties and at all levels of government.

Curry does appear to have accumulated a long string of intersecting allegations for an innocent man, doesn't he?

Should any of the charges be found true in a court of law, I trust Senate President Miller will equally support Curry in vacating his office while he is delaying going to federal prison.
