helmets - 2010-09-04 10:50:41
Head trauma and brain injuries happen frequently. People need to wear helmets on anything that moves more than 5 mph. And wear them properly. I see kids with ill--fitted helmets more often than not. Parents make their kids wear helmets, but then they are without on neighborhood bike rides. Why? Do they think they're immune to an accident? You teach your child that it's ok to not wear one later on. My favortie was a kid on an ATV with no helmet and flipflops, while Dad was wandering around the property without a care. The most common act of stupidity are the people who ride scooters without helmets. Go ahead and feel confident in your ability to ride - but you can't control the person who is about to plow into you.
How sad for the family and friends of this young man.
