Naval service commitments have taken him all over the world the past 15 years with Iraq among the more recent stops.
Lt. Cmdr. Davids currently lives in Annapolis, a welcome change of venue that has allowed him to resume sailing. He occasionally shows up at the Naval Academy, borrows a boat and practices with the Midshipmen on the Severn River.
"I had a lengthy hiatus from sailing, so suddenly getting back into it has been really fun for me," Davids said.
