With moderate, if sometimes puffy, southerly breezes to propel them, a fleet of 140 boats in 13 classes took off Friday evening from the Severn River off host Eastport Yacht Club to spend the next several hours racing beneath the light of a brilliant full moon in the 28th annual Solomons Island Invitational.
First over the line at the new finish line at G'5' in the lower Patuxent River was James Muldoon's custom 73-footer Donnybrook, arriving at 2:32 a.m. after a start the previous evening just before 7 p.m. This time, however, Donnybrook was not alone on the horizon as Muldoon and his team brought her in for line...
