Officers with the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association are constantly searching for ways to improve the organization's signature event that has been held over Labor Day weekend for nearly a century.
When current CBYRA president Bobby Frey reviewed the class splits and results from last year's event, he realized that the downwind planing boats were out of place in PHRF A3 with the more upwind-oriented boats that tend to populate that class.
