For Eastport Yacht Club members Eric Johnson and Buck Downes, the third time proved to be the charm in the challenging Bermuda 1-2 Race when they earned podium finishes in both legs and overall for their performance in Johnson's C&C 41 Dirigo. Photo no longer available

The biennial race, with a single-handed leg from Newport, R.I., to St. George's, Bermuda, and a double-handed return, with a 635-mile rhumb line in each direction, started June 5 and drew 39 entries spread across six classes.
