Crew with Naval Academy ties takes line honors

For the second year in a row, the Naval Academy's Reichel-Pugh 66-footer Zaraffa was first to finish the 70-mile course from Maryland's current capital to its original one in the 36th annual St. Mary's College of Maryland Governor's Cup yacht race.
Following a rainstorm, skies cleared just in time to see the fleet of 135 off on the race down the Chesapeake and up the Potomac and St. Mary's rivers.
Following a start at the mouth of the Severn River off Annapolis at 6:05 p.m. Friday, Zaraffa crossed the line at 2:38 a.m. yesterday with an elapsed time of eight hours, 33 minutes.
