Retiring Crofton Woods principal gave students a global education

For a year after his high school graduation and before his freshman year of college, Peter Zimmer, the principal of Crofton Woods Elementary School, backpacked through Europe.

"It was the most formative experience of my life," he said. "It reinforces an appreciation of different cultures and an understanding of our own nation."

That belief has influenced Mr. Zimmer's 15 years as principal at Crofton Woods. And when he retires in December, his legacy will be the broader world view that he gave to the school and its students.

After putting two children through Crofton Woods with Peter Zimmer, we don't know what more we could have wanted in an elementary school, public or private. Peter's leadership was always clearly a very large part of the school's success. Thank you Peter for the wonderful work, and for the success you instilled in so many children!
