More turf fields doled outPublished 04/01/08
Broadneck High School's new artificial turf has allowed students to be on the field around the clock.
That was impossible with the Lawrence E. Knight Stadium's former, delicate grass fields, said Ken Kazmarek, the school's athletic director. Since the new turf was placed in 2006, "There's no limit to usage. It has absolutely transformed every facet of our instructional program," he said.
Under a plan developed last year, eventually all 12 county high schools will have one of the artificial turf fields. But only three fields will be built each year, and tomorrow the county Board of Education is slated to...
