Evening High School graduates move on to brighter futures

There was nervous laughter Thursday as county Evening High School graduates posed for pictures in their caps and gowns in the Severna Park High School auditorium before the graduation ceremony.

Joshua McKerrow - The Capital South River Evening High School graduate Carmen Cordova received a standing ovation after her story of coming to the United States and being able to receive a free education.

Participating were 70 students in the Evening High Schools program.

The program, established in 1968, has graduated 2,400 students. It runs throughout the school year at Anne Arundel County educational facilities including Annapolis, South River, Glen Burnie, Meade and Severna Park high schools. Anyone under age 21 who is interested in completing a high school education may attend, as well as students currently enrolled in a regular...

You missed my point. I see what you're trying to say but it's a reach. The language of the USA is English. I noticed you didn't type in German or Nanticoke, did you?

Perhaps she should have spoken Nanticoke since that is the original language of this land. Or since more Marylanders claim German ancestry more than any other ancestry, perhaps she should have spoken German?

Why was the first part of the speech in Spanish? Aren't we in the United States? Don't we speak English here? Shouldn't you speak the language of the land if you want to reach out to the people? If you go to France, would you not speak French? If you go to Japan, would you not speak Japanese? So, if you come the USA, would you not speak English?
