AACC expanding weekend and online offerings

As area colleges prepare to begin fall classes, Anne Arundel Community College is increasing its online courses and expanding its weekend program in an attempt to help students accommodate their hectic schedules.

BOTTOM: Amylee Raddin, a 14-year-old homeschooler who takes writing classes at Anne Arundel Community College, jokes with her mom, Victoria Raddin, who also is a student at the school. Mrs. Raddin said her family will benefit from the college's expanded weekend program, which will include more classes and a wider range of student services on Saturdays and Sundays.

Academic counselors will be available on weekends, college officials said, and the cashier's window, the bookstore and the child care center will be open on Saturdays and Sundays.

"It will open up doors to a lot of folks who want to go to college," said James Jackson, an admissions officer at the college.
