AACC Public Safety department gets accreditedPublished 10/13/08
When Gary Lyle was first brought in to Anne Arundel Community College to consult on improving its Public Safety department, his goal was to make it as professional of an organization as possible.

TOP: Communications officer William Busch handles dispatch duties in the Anne Arundel Community College Public Safety office. The department was recently given accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. It is the only school in Maryland, and the only community college in the country to receive the honor so far. BOTTOM: Anne Arundel Community College Public Safety officer Sgt. April Davis surveys a parking lot during her patrol shift. Mr. Lyle, who is retired from the county police department, is one step closer to that goal. The department recently was accredited by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. The accreditation process is similar to the kind police departments go through, but it is specific to the needs of a college campus.
