Parents protest principal transfer as routine rotations orderedPublished 06/30/09

About 36 parents and students gathered outside Richard Henry Lee Elementary School in Glen Burnie Wednesday evening to protest the transfer of the school’s principal, Mary Wagner, to Hillsmere Elementary School. Parents felt Wagner’s compassion made her a significant community figure.The school was closed and the protest Wednesday night was brief. But parent Russell Mentecki said the demonstration was held to make the point that the school is losing not only Principal Mary Wagner and Assistant Principal Janet Clayton to routine end-of-year transfers, but losing stability as well.
