School settles discrimination lawsuitPublished 09/27/09
A private elementary school in Arnold has agreed to pay almost $80,000 to a former teacher who is HIV-positive to settle a discrimination lawsuit. The Chesapeake Academy - which maintains it did nothing wrong when it terminated Chauncey Stevenson in 2006 - also agreed Wednesday to better train its managers regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act as part of its settlement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
