School expulsions continue to dropPublished 10/22/09
Only 13 students were expelled from county public schools last year, continuing a dramatic drop from 399 expulsions just four years ago. But officials have not made much progress in lowering the number of disciplinary referrals and suspensions, despite continued efforts to improve student behavior. Members of the county Board of Education reviewed those numbers last night, as part of their annual look at progress toward reaching the goals in their strategic plan for creating safe and supportive learning environments. It's nothing but a numbers game. They move the problems to a program where 'problems' are the norm and therefore are no longer measured by the normal metrics and not included in the past year statistics.
Maxwell is smart enough to be able to manipulate the data to rationalize his own salary. Perhaps his salary should be tied to the long-term success of the post-graduate.
