It will be a long time before Baltimore area sports fans forget the deep, resonating sound of Thompson's voice describing an Orioles or Colts game on the radio.
Forget all the flowery descriptions of Thompson calling a game. Forget the magnitude of the games he called. The guy was just good. And as good as he was is as nice a guy as he was.
When you listened to Thompson you might as well have been in the stadium. You knew what was going on. Thompson allowed you to see the game as you listened on the radio.
He won't be on the radio any more....
