Boxing: Promoter makes his pitchPublished 04/03/05
Local boxing promoter Scott Wagner couldn't be more pleased to see his sport turned into a reality show. NBC's "The Contender," he said, is the biggest thing to happen to boxing in 25 years. The show, which pits 16 middle-weight boxers against each other for the chance to fight live at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 24 for $1 million, has put the sport back on network television in a way not seen since ABC aired fights on "Wide World of Sports."
