Boxing: Promoter makes his pitch

Local boxing promoter Scott Wagner couldn't be more pleased to see his sport turned into a reality show.

NBC's "The Contender," he said, is the biggest thing to happen to boxing in 25 years.

The show, which pits 16 middle-weight boxers against each other for the chance to fight live at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 24 for $1 million, has put the sport back on network television in a way not seen since ABC aired fights on "Wide World of Sports."

Wagner, who has done a lot to bring in new fans through his own Ballroom Boxing series at Michael's Eighth Avenue, is also linked to the popular boxing show through...
