Rangers to give Sosa a tryout
Sammy Sosa may get a chance to show the Rangers that heβs capable of playing in the major leagues again. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed that the club has offered Sosa a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The offer includes incentives should Sosa make the club. Sosa did not play baseball in 2006 after turning down a nonguaranteed contract offer of $500,000 from the Washington Nationals.
He has said he would accept a similar offer now. Sosa struggled in his last full season in the majors, hitting .221...
