Masters swimmers don't let age get in the way of a good swimPublished 06/20/08
A team of Maryland Masters swimmers participated in the YMCA National Masters Swimming Meet recently in at the International Swimmers Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Maryland team finished in second place out of numerous YMCA teams. Raymond Edelhoff, age 95, was the only contender in his age group, and placed first in five races, swimming free style, back stroke and breast stroke. The oldest female swimmer, 88-year-old Doris Russell, won six first places including the 100 yard fly. Linda Shoenberger broke three national YMCA records in the women's 60 to 64 age group with a time of 13:18 in the 1000...
