Hall banquet draws crowd

It was a night about family and community at the 18th annual Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet.

A near capacity crowd of almost 500 filled the Michael's 8th Avenue banquet hall to enshrine baseball and football great Chuck Hebron, Southern High coach Linda Kilpatrick, action sports superstar Travis Pastrana and boxer Chuck Sturm.

It seemed that half of south county showed up to honor Kilpatrick, the winningest girls basketball coach in Anne Arundel County history with 443 victories in 31 seasons. Kilpatrick led five state championships from 1979-1985 and many of the players from those illustrious teams turned...
