AACC BASKETBALL CLINIC: Anne Arundel Community College's athletic director and women's basketball coach will be holding a pre-season clinic for boys and girls ages 9 through 13 on Sunday, Nov. 23 from 1-4 p.m. in the gym at the main campus on College Parkway. The clinic will stress the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, rebounding, defense, shooting and team work. The cost is $45, which includes a basketball. ZASTRO SIMMS BASKETBALL: The Zastro Simms Youth Basketball League offers play in Clinic (8-under), 9U, 11U, 12-13, and 14-15 age groups. The leagues begin in early December with games conducted by the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department at Stanton Community Center.

The cost is $150 per team. Clinic and 8-9 leagues are free.

CC LAX: Chesapeake Club Lacrosse is a program for girls looking to improve their lacrosse skills and play competitively. Open tryouts will be held for the classes off 2010- 2015 the weekend of Dec. 6-7 on the turf at Severn School.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, the classes of 2013-2015 will be on site from 9 a.m.-noon while the classes of 2010-2012 will be on site from 1-4 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 7, all classes will be on site from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

QUICK STIX INDOOR LACROSSE: Quick Stix registration is now underway for girls seven-a-side indoor lacrosse. League play will follow a set schedule on Sundays from Jan. 4-Feb. 15 in two locations. A fee of $ 70 per player covers team jersey and top flight umpires. Playing opportunities are offered for girls in two levels: those who have not been to high school and those who have.

Instruction, coupled with a competitive league for middle schoolers (grades 4- 8) will be held Sunday mornings at Severn River and Magothy Middle.

High school Varsity and JV team action will take place at Annapolis High in a tournament format.

The Starter Stix program for beginners of all ages will be carefully taught in the afternoon at Annapolis High.

Athletes may sign up individually or bring your own team (maximum of 14 players) with a coach in tow.

FREESTATE SOCCER: The Freestate Freedom U-9 girls' soccer team is looking for girls born on or after Aug. 1, 1999 to join them for the winter indoor and spring outdoor seasons. The team plays outdoors in the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS). SEVERNA PARK SOCCER: The new U17 NCSL Severna Park United soccer team will be holding tryouts for its spring roster on Sunday, Nov. 23 and Dec. 7. Player date of birth must be Aug. 1, 1991 or younger. The team will be playing in the National Capital Soccer League, the premier soccer league for Maryland and Northern Virginia. In the spring the team will compete in numerous College Showcase tournaments and the Maryland State Cup. SEVERNA PARK WRESTLING: Falcons Nest Wrestling Club wil meet on Saturdays from 8:30-10 a.m. from Dec. 13 through Feb. 14 at the Severna Park High School wrestling room. The club is for children ages 4-13. Novices, first-year wrestlers, and members of junior league teams are welcome. The cost is $60. The program will include mat games, mat drills, basic technical instruction, live wrestling, and a round-robin tournament. The club is directed by Paul Joyce, head coach of the Severna Park High wrestling team.

DEALE BASKETBALL: The Shorebirds are accepting basketball registrations for beginner clinic (ages 4-5), advanced clinic (ages 6-7), precounty (ages 8-9), and county (10U and older). T2 LACROSSE: T2 Lacrosse Inc., an elite boys lacrosse organization run by United States Naval Academy lacrosse alumni, has announced its 2009 Instructional/Evaluation Sessions.The sessions will include eight hours of high-paced instruction from coaches who have competed at the collegiate level. T2 Lacrosse's summer traveling teams will be evaluated and formed from these sessions, with teams competing in the U11/U13/U15/HS JV/HS Varsity divisions during the Summer 2009 tournament season. These are instructional sessions also and it is not a requirement to play on one of the summer teams to attend this event. The sessions will be on Jan 31, Feb. 8, Feb 14, and Feb 21, with all sessions at Broadneck High School on the turf field. CAPE ST. CLAIRE SOCCER: The Cape St. Claire Boys AAYSA U10 Division 1 team is seeking players for all positions. The team seeks committed, skilled and motivated players. The team intends to be a travel team in the fall of 2009. Until then it will play winter 2008 Futsol, Spring Soccer (AASYA Div 1), and enter at least one tournament over the summer of 2009. A team summer camp is also in a possibility if there is interest.

FROZEN ROPES: The Frozen Ropes Baseball and Softball Training Center is accepting registrations for its Thanksgiving Holiday Camp on Nov. 28. The camp will be for both baseball and softball players ages 5-12 and will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Early dop-off and late pick-up available. AACS YOUTH BASKETBALL: The Annapolis Area Christian School basketball coaching staff will run a Saturday youth basketball league from Jan. 10 through March 28. Individual skills development, team concepts, sportsmanship and self-confidence will be emphasized throughout the league.
