BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) — John Griffin rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown as Northeastern beat Towson 24-7 on Saturday.
Griffin scored on a 70-yard run and turned in the Huskies' first 200-yard rushing game in two years. The win broke a 13-game losing streak for the Huskies (1-6, 1-3 Colonial Athletic Association).
The Huskies also benefited from five interceptions, including one by Mike Lukenda that was returned 20 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. Darryl Jones had two interceptions for the Huskies.
Elijah Harris scored the Huskies' other touchdown on a 10-yard run.
Towson (2-5, 1-3) managed only 8 yards rushing. The Tigers' only score came in the third quarter on a 6-yard pass from Jeremy Jayne to John Godlasky.
Jayne went 14-for-31 for 170 yards and three interceptions.
